Meet Mike's Tykes
Hello, I'm Michael Soderlund, owner of Mike's Tyke's Childcare in Eden Prairie, MN. I began my journey with in-home childcare in 2008 when our oldest daughter was born. I am passionate about providing a wholesome, educational, and fun environment for children.
At Mike's Tykes, I offer care for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children. Beginning at 24 months of age, children are introduced to a preschool curriculum. In addition, I offer a music program, introducing children to the joy of music from an early age.
My wife, Mandi, and our daughters, Emmi, Elise, and Olivia are heavily involved in the childcare, as well! They love to bake, make crafts, and dance with the kids. Each year, we host a large Christmas party to thank all families for their part in making Mike's Tykes great. My family and I pride ourselves in creating lifelong friendships with the children and their families.

Our family moved from Richfield to Bloomington a year before our third child was born. We thought driving back to South Minneapolis would work for us, but it turns out that commute was a bit much with three kids and two full-time working parents. We were introduced to Mike through another family and immediately felt welcome. Mike and Mandi showed up to chat with us as a team and we felt connected to them. The things that are important to Mike - caring for our kids, bringing Jesus into the curriculum and providing a safe space for our children to learn and grow - were also important to us. For three years, Mike provided just what we needed for our daughter. Our family was fortunate to find Mike's Tykes nine years ago when we were pregnant with our first child. We met with a few daycare providers (both centers and in-home) and when we met Mike, we just knew it was the right choice for us. Mike cared for both our daughter and son until they went to elementary school...they continue to go to Mike's Tykes when school is closed during the year and during the summer. Mike has provided exceptional care consistently over the last nine years. Our children feel like Mike's house is their second home. Mike's wife and three girls treat the daycare kiddos like part of the family and show so much genuine care for them.
Mike has an incredible amount of patience and does a great job keeping the kids on a routine. He's always willing to work with the families to tailor care to their individual needs. He's honest, caring, kind, compassionate, and works very hard. In the nine years we've been at the daycare, he's closed less than a handful of times and only when due to a true emergency. His reliability is top notch!
The curriculum he uses helped prepare our kiddos for preschool/kindergarten and it's always fun to the pride when they learn something new at daycare. Mike genuinely cares about the kids learning and will always share honest feedback if a child is struggling.
Anytime I hear someone is looking for care, I immediately ask Mike if he has openings because I can't imagine a better place for kids to be cared for and loved.
